If you happened to buy more stamps than you needed, the Post Office isn’t the place you should seek recourse. They do not provide cash refunds for stamps. They may allow you to exchange stamps for more current designs. However, if you are in need of cash instead of postage, a postage buying service may be a better option.
The main question to ask yourself is, “Will I need postage in the future, and if so how much?”. If you project sending out mailings in the future, holding onto your stamps may be the best thing to do, based on how much leftover postage you may have. After-all, unused postage stamps never expire.

Postage buying services will pay you cash for your stamps. While you won’t get the full face value for your postage, they will give you money for your stamps. The process is pretty straight forward.
You mail your postage to them, and they provide you a purchase offer for your stamps. Their offer is based on the face value of your postage. If you accept, they’ll send you payment by check, PayPal, or bank wire transfer.
While it won’t be a full refund for your stamps, you’ll at least be able to get rid of your unused stamps and put money back in your pocket.
